CISA Medical Mission Serves Hundreds of OFWs

JEDDAH, 29 January 2004 — A medical mission by Circulo Ilongo-Saudi Arabia (CISA), in coordination with the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, served a total of 640 Filipino expatriates and other nationalities at the consulate grounds last Friday. They were given free medical and dental services.

One of the volunteer doctors said that most patients sought consultation for diseases such as hypertension, asthma and diabetes.

Since the mission also performed laboratory tests, he noted that most patients examined had very high sugar blood count.

The recipients were also given free medicines such as cough and cold medicaments as well as vitamins.

Aside from volunteer doctors, volunteer dentists from King Fahd General Hospital also gave free tooth extractions and offered dental hygiene tips.

The group also invited Cecile Mclean and Helena Van Eeden, who gave lectures on mother and child care.

The two educators gave precautions and tips for increasing milk supply for breastfeeding mothers.

In addition to the services offered, the anti-meningitis vaccination was also given during the mission.

The sponsors for the event were Almarai Co. Ltd., National Biscuits Confectionary, Pepsi Cola, Al Hada Water Co., Nissah Health Water, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Al Quorishi Marketing, Teashop, Nora Laboratory and Al Safi Marketing.
