JEDDAH, 11 February 2004 — Alsharq Al-Awsat newspaper and the Dubai Strategy Forum have signed a partnership agreement intended to raise the profile of the forum and reflect the commitment of the newspaper to meeting head on the issues that face the Gulf region.
Mohammed Al-Gerawi, chairman of the organizing committee of the Dubai Strategy Forum announced the signing in Dubai on Monday.
“The Dubai Strategy Forum is a distinguished event in which the leading political and business personalities of the region participate,” said Prince Faisal ibn Salman, chairman of the board of the Saudi Research and Marketing Group, which publishes the Alsharq Al-Awsat.
“It provides a platform for a lively discussion of the issues and concerns of the region and as center of discussion to review the challenges that face the countries in the region.”
The Dubai Strategy Forum has achieved international standing as an international event that attracts the decision makers from the political and commercial arenas. Al-Gerawi said that partnership with Alsharq Al-Awsat would be advantageous to the forum as the newspaper has a wide circulation in both the Arab and wider world.
This year, the forum will tackle issues that highlight ways in which countries in the Gulf region can enhance their growth to integrate with the global economy.
Alsharq Al-Awsat, published in London, is one of the leading Arab newspapers. “The partnership will help reinforce the benefits derived from the forum’s meeting,” said Al-Gerawi.
