Saudi Diyar Score Win in Seiko-JBL

JEDDAH, 27 February 2004 — Saudi Diyar scored over Hempel Paints 77-68 in the Bin Mafouz basketball court in Jeddah. Saudi Diyar displayed awesome shooting to stop Hempel Paints' rally in the final quarter. Hempel Paints' defensive stance collapsed in the dying seconds. Santos chipped in with 19 points for Saudi Diyar and was adjudged as the Giordano player of the game while Balajadia scored 21 points for Hempel Paints.

ALJ Hospital/Toyota XA defeated Mega Clinic 86-49. ALJ Hospital applied man-to-man defense and run and gun offense to tame Mega Clinic in the fourth quarter. Gadingan and Garcia had 13 points a piece for ALJ Hospital/Toyota XA while Yap topscored with 11 points for Mega Clinic. Garcia was adjudged as the Seiko player of the game. Tropicana Restaurant upset Al Anjal 63-59. Tropicana Restaurant showed heart and employed the man-to-man defense in the dying seconds and went to Rick Belarmino for their final assault.

Belarmino led with 19 points for Tropicana Restaurant and was adjudged as the Alhamrani Fuchs player of the game while Barry Nader had 20 points for Al Anjal.

In Thursday games, Seiko-Butler beat Jarir Bookstore 41-40. It was a low-scoring ballgame as both teams played excellent defense. With 7 seconds remaining, Seiko-Butler's Rafanan managed to escape from his shadows and scored the winning basket as the final buzzer sounded. Rafanan had 10 points for Seiko-Butler and was adjudged as the Seiko player of the game while Borja scored 12 points for Jarir Bookstore.

Bakhsh Hospital/Al Zafer Cargo defeated King Fahd Military Hospital/Fructis 80-74 in overtime. King Fahd Military were in the driver's seat till the 3rd quarter but suffered casualties due to foul trouble in the final quarter.

Bakhsh Hospital applied a running game in the overtime period while King Fahd Military tried to defend only to lose their steam at the end. Dionision topscored with 23 points for Bakhsh Hospital and was adjudged the Seiko player of the game while Sierra had 21 points for King Fahd Military Hospital.

Toyota beat Laguna Lakers 60-57 in the Inter-Commercial Division. The combination of Ed Diaz and Boy Corsega manned the drawing board for Toyota of Jimmy Beltran while Teody Chiongco called the shots for Laguna Lakers of Donald Doloso.

Laguna Lakers almost had the game but missed the crucial free throws in the dying seconds. Bansil led with 21 points for Toyota and was adjudged as the Seiko player of the game while Buhat had 22 points for Laguna Lakers.
