RIYADH, 3 March 2004 — Peter Sibold, a Canadian national who was prevented from leaving the Kingdom, has been issued a final exit visa.
The visa was issued after his employer and the Canadian Embassy resolved outstanding issues. Sibold, who said that he had no grievances against anyone, commended the role of the Canadian Embassy, saying that it had been very supportive in settling the matter.
Sibold’s story was carried in Arab News on Monday after the Canadian press published reports that his plans to return to Canada had been upset because his employer refused to provide him with an exit visa.
Sibold, however, said that he had never intended to “abscond” from the Kingdom as the Canadian news reports had suggested. “My intentions were to travel to Bahrain during the Eid to meet my family,” he said.
