RIYADH, 5 March 2004 - Saudi Tornado blew away Okey Lang to clinch the Team of the Week honors during the ninth session of the NAK Park USA Sunday Night Bowling League 8th Conference here. After the Saudi Tornado fury had subsided Okey Lang was at the short end of a 25-3 rout on total pinfalls of 4,056 and 3,638. On a fine day of scoring three players breached the 900-series mark and a further 17 shot 802 or better. Cashing in on the bowler-friendly lanes of Riyadh Bowling Club were league top two - D'Marvelous and D'Invaders and defending champion Al Mishari Pinbusters who all posted impressive victories. D'Marvelous fired total pinfalls of 4,236 for 23 points in beating Unlimited VI (18 points, 4,115 pinfalls), while D'Invaders tripped Schneider Electric 24-18 on total pinfalls of 4,232-4,116. The Pinbusters snapped a two-match losing steak to crush Blue Blood 20-11 on total pinfalls of 3,955 and 3,862. Nestor Tercio of D'Marvelous was named Bowler of the Week when he carded the high series of 947 on lines of 201, 245, 279, 182 and 40 handicap. Jadawel Bowling Club rolled back HTG-Margie 19-11 (3,847-3,773) in the other match in the five-man team league event sponsored by NAK Park USA.
Captained by Jiffry Bilal, Saudi Tornado swept the win and bonus points with scores of 900 and 950 with games of 1,051, 1,040, 951 and 1,015. Turki Al Essa, Hassan Al Sheikh and Hassan Al Anazi were the Tornado trio that inflicted the most damage on Okey Lang with solid series of 890, 850 and 808. Shahan Lee at 765 and Noel Marquez at 743 completed the Tornado scoring.
In putting good numbers together for the third straight week D'Marvelous also drew 928 from Jim Lasaca, 872 from Freddie Aquino and 746 from Benito Santos. Tony Vicario was at the helm of D'Invaders's charge that also netted 869 from Fernie Ballano, 856 from Romy Zafe and 819 from Ernie Quiambao.
Leading the Mishari onslaught were Manny Librilla with 894, Elmer Penoso with 834 and Romy Vargas with 802.
