LONDON, 10 March 2004 — The OPEC oil group plans to press ahead with a production cut of one million barrels per day (bpd) next month despite soaring oil prices, Qatari Oil Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah said yesterday. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries alarmed oil-importing nations last month when ministers agreed in Algiers to reduce the grouping’s official production ceiling by about four percent to 23.5 million bpd from April.
