RIYADH: Samlah, owned by Qatari Khaled Al-Hababi, recorded the fastest time on the first day of the Jatha stages at the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival.
The festival, organized by the Saudi Camel Racing Federation, is being held at Al-Janadriyah field in Riyadh.
The Jatha category stages will conclude on Feb.13, including the running of the four Al-Ramz stages during the evening period.
A total of 968 camels are competing in the Jatha category.
The Jatha camels will cover a distance of 264 kilometers over 44 stages, each stage is 6 kilometers.
Camel racing in the Kingdom, seen as significant from both a sporting and a cultural perspecive, is supported by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
