KARACHI, 16 March 2004 — The Muttahida Qaumi Movement, an ally of the government at the Center and in Sindh, decided to unseat three of its National Assembly members and replace a federal minister, a provincial minister and a provincial adviser for their failure to resolve people’s problems.

The decision was taken at a meeting at the party headquarters here and addressed by Muttahida chief Altaf Hussain.

Federal Minister for Communications Ahmed Ali, Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Rauf Siddiqi and adviser to the Sindh chief minister for health Noman Sehgal have been asked to hand in their resignations. Three lawmakers — S.A. Khan, Azizullah Brohi and Sarkaruddin — have also been asked to resign from the National Assembly.
