JEDDAH, 16 March 2004 — Phone cabin specialists recommended that owners of the cabins refuse to renew contracts with Saudi Telecom. Several phone cabin owners confirmed their financial losses due to some of the technical policies and the discounts offered by the STC. Furthermore the increased usage of SAWA cards has also contributed to the losses suffered by phone cabin owners. In addition, with new communication companies rivaling STC, the threat to the industry’s SR600 million investments in the Saudi market has increased. Walid Al-Juaied, the owner of Al-Nabarees for Communications, said that the phone cabin industry is facing more competition and fewer customers.
