DAMMAM, 18 March 2004 — Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company has opened a new SR30 million epoxy pipe manufacturing plant at Dammam Industrial City-I.
The new facility will meet the growing demand by the Kingdom’s oil, gas and petrochemical industries for high-performance, corrosion-resistant piping systems.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Amiantit CEO Fareed Al-Khalawi said the new unit was “one of the finest in the world” and an example of Amiantit’s leadership in pipe manufacturing technology.
He said the company had reversed the import of technology transfer by using and exporting its own pipe manufacturing technology.
Amiantit, he said, was world’s biggest fiberglass pipe manufacturer. The new fully automated plant will have an annual capacity of 1,600 tons of glass reinforced epoxy resin piping.
The first phase covers 1800 square meters. Phase two will include second pipe production line and a fitting unit.
