TATHLEETH, 20 March 2004 — A special committee, composed of the Tathleeth municipality, police and Passport Department, which is responsible for monitoring Saudization in the area’s gold shops, has closed all the shops in the town because of their failure to Saudize.
According to Eqtisadia, the gold shop workers in Tathleeth were not Saudis but were wearing Saudi national dress to disguise themselves. People who want to buy gold have to travel to Khamis Mushayt, some 250 kilometers away.
Also in Tahleeth the committee closed a pharmacy after discovering that the pharmacist was in fact a carpenter.
