HP dominated its rivals in the Middle East Handheld market according to the latest Canalys’ results released for fourth quarter 2003. At more than 10 percent over its nearest rival, HP’s share of the Middle East and Africa’s handheld market came in at 49.2 percent.
HP achieved more than 408 percent growth year-on-year in the Middle East in the handheld market and continues solid performance in the data centric mobile device market, which grew 164 percent year-on-year during the quarter.
HP has been continuing to build its market strength with wins in industry segments as diverse as oil and gas, pharmaceutical, hospitality and manufacturing around the region, including Egypt, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
“We have aggressively pursued the No. 1 position in the handheld market for the last quarter, and it is our customer base and their loyalty, along with differentiated and award-winning products, that are proving to be a successful strategy for HP and will maintain our position for the future,” said Christoph Schell, GM, Personal Systems Group, HP Middle East.
