RIYADH, 9 April 2004 — Brushing aside rumors that they have been struck with Bird Flu, defending champions Phoenix-Bakahan at Manukan Dart Team grilled 15-6 last week’s featured team Jolina’s Fashion Collection Dart Team in the first game of the ongoing Power Horse Dart Team Challenge organized by the Expat Darters of Saudi Arabia (EDSA).
Starting very cold in the Singles, the Pinoy Food Masters minced their opponents in the Doubles leg and in the Team-of-Four, with the former Blackjack gunner Ding Roxas throwing a barrage of Ton-40s and finishing their game with a Double Bull’s-Eye.
Ace Darters recovered from previous weeks’ string of losses by beating the power packed line-up of Power Horse Darters. Game was tied at 5-all after the Singles leg but the Ace Darters brought out all the aces from their sleeves in the Doubles and Team-of-Four legs. Final Score 14-7.
First Quadrant-Wakaray Darters fought toe-to-toe against sister team First Quadrant-D’Artists Darters. Game was only decided in the Team-of-Four battle of endurance at 12-9.
Absal Central Aircon Dart Team narrowly escaped with an 11-10 victory against the Alesayi Motors Darters. The Turbo Masters were leading at 10-8 after the first two legs but the Hot & Cold Air Blowers beat them in the Team-of-Four. Ner’s Original La Paz Batchoy Dart Team was too hot for SkyFreight-STR Dart Team, needing only two legs to finish their game against the Cargo Masters.
The Iloilo Food Kings’ Boy “Sure” Concepcion wowed the crowd with his classic Bullseye Outshot, making the Team-of-Four game a no-bearing match. Final score 12-9.
In the second game, First Quadrant-D’Artists Darters beat Phoenix-Bakahan at Manukan Dart Team 16-5. Jolina’s Fashion Collection Dart Team gracefully switched off the fan motors of Absal Central Aircon Dart Team, clearly an upset right from the start. Final score 11-10.
Ace Darters won by a 12-9 hair raising decision victory against the Ner’s Original La Paz Batchoy. League leaders First Quadrant-Wakaray Darters downlined the SkyFreight-STR Dart Team at 13-8. Alesayi Motors Darters swiftly prevailed 11-10 against the Power Horse Darters, with Adrian Tolentino showing his strength by finishing his game with 17 darts.
It was a seesaw battle up to the second leg but the Turbo Charged darters bulldozed their way over the Energy Drink Masters in the Team-of-Four.
