RIYADH, 9 April 2004 — So Much claimed team honors via the countback over ECR and Arcie Consolacion clinched the invidual race for Bowler of the Week at the start of the LS Monday Night Bowling League 4th Conference at the Al Khozama Bowling Center here. Captained by Roger Bautista, So Much emerged Team of the Week by virtue of their better total pinfalls of 3,762. ECR carded total pinfalls of 3,656.
Both teams were tied on 12 points in beating separate opponents in the five-man team league event that marked the return to action of bowlers at ABC which reopened after a major renovation work.
So Much shot down RBC Patriots which compiled nine points and total pinfalls of 3,757, while ECR whipped host Al Khozama (3 points, 3,541 total pinfalls).
Consolacion succeeded in the individual contest when he shot the high series of 835 pinfalls to become Bowler of the Week.
It was a rough first week for defending champion Missed Beat of Philip Lee as they went down in defeat to Shakur Kamlian’s FOBR 10-8 on total pinfalls of 3720-3637.
Vision 2, skippered by Alex Bandoy, edged out Ver Cayago’s Pangasinan Strikers 11-10 points on total pinfalls of 3750 and 3722 in the other match in the tournament that will run through 27 weeks including the final on Oct. 18. Consolacion also set individual records, namely 835 for high series handicap and high series scratch and 256 for high game with handicap and high game scratch.
The team records to beat were 3762 high series with handicap established by So Much, 3657 high series scratch, 1025 high game with handicap and 1008 high game scratch all posted by RBC Patriots.
Bautista led by example, shooting the top score of 793 for So Much which also drew 769 from Leo Mabunga, 755 from Jess Cuevas, 733 from Reny Dimapilis, 400 from Viviane Cuevas and 312 from Joe Mendez.
As the second best team pinfalls-wise the Patriots rode the consistency of Pido Villarosa with 771 and Oscar Bernabe with 767 that went with the 726 by Elmer Penoso, 722 by captain Jett Cabana, 397 by Rod Tagaban and 330 by Benito Santos.
Eleven teams are entered in the tourney sponsored by Garnet Cargo through Jojo Paciano and Hotel Al Khozama through sport center manager Saeed Al Zahrani.
