JEDDAH, 12 April 2004 — With the waste on the increase, investment in recycling seems to be a priority for the Saudi government, said a German expert. Dr. Thomas Raabe from Duales System Deutschland who is on a short business visit to the Kingdom told Arab News that the Saudi government certainly strives to shape the economic structure more manifold to reduce the dependence on the price of the oil and to enable a lasting economic growth. “Certainly the Saudi government recently seems to be very dedicated to deal with recycling but before using any recycling technology to be implemented here in the Kingdom, the government should set up a frame work to set its own objectives and more importantly, educating its own people to understand and react to the problem,” he said.
