COLOMBO, 15 April 2004 — Sri Lanka skipper Marvan Atapattu hopes Zimbabwe resolve their player crisis and field a full-strength side during his team’s forthcoming tour.

Sri Lanka travel to Zimbabwe on Thursday with Atapattu, who has taken the Test captaincy from Hashan Tillakaratne, worried about motivating his players against second-string opposition.

Zimbabwe face a mass player boycott, triggered by the sacking of Heath Streak as captain, unless the Zimbabwe Cricket Union address player concerns about the selection process.

“When you are touring a country you want to play the best side they have,” Atapattu told reporters on the eve of the team’s departure.
