JEDDAH, 16 April 2004 — In the 3rd week matches of Jeddah Cricket League’s Friday League, Tamer prevailed over Kanoo Travel. Saudi Perfume powered to victory over KAIA. Juffali Michelin inflicted defeat on Nestle Milo. Afkar Promo 7 defeated Deccan Blues.
Tamer Prevail Over Kanoo Travel: Tamer piled up a massive score of 222 runs in its allotted overs. Kanoo Travel fell short by 34 runs. Anwar dominated the opening wicket partnership scoring 33 runs and pelting 7 fours. After the dismissal of Anwar, Asif (93) and Afroze (52) added 109 runs for the 2nd wicket in 10 overs. Asif missed well-deserved century by 7 runs. Saleem Patel (36) hit 5 timely boundaries. Mushtaq (1 for 38), Najm (1 for 43) and Shoaib (1 for 41) were the successful bowlers.
Kanoo Travel’s Majed (49) and Wasim (67) batted with a purpose but could not keep up with the asking rate. Kanoo Travel exhausted its overs reaching 188 runs. Saleem Patel picked 2 wickets for 37 runs.
Saudi Perfume Prove Too Good for KAIA: Saudi Perfume put up 185 runs. KAIA, in reply, only mustered 159 runs. Saudi Perfume were provided a sound start of 62 runs by Nadeem (27) and Abidi (30). Wahaj contributed 22. Sajid (17) and Amoudi (35) swelled the tally to 185 for the loss of 8 wickets. Shameem (3 for 24) was the most successful bowler. Mir Saif Ullah (2 for 24) contributed well. KAIA lost its openers with the score at 33, and were 46 for 5. Lasanta (60) dug in with Zafar (32) to take KAIA out of dire straits. But the bowlers of Saudi Perfume restricted KAIA to 159 runs. Wahaj (2 for 17) dismissed both openers.
Afkar Promo 7 Beat Deccan Blues: Deccan Blues posted 162 runs in its quantum of overs. Afkar Promo 7 crossed the target in 18 over and six wickets in hand.
Deccan Blues started well as A. Quddous (37) and A. Aziz (23) put up 60 runs opening wicket partnership, but could not capitalize on the sound start. Deccan Blues managed to reach 162 runs. Majid (3 for 28) did most of the damage. Afkar Promo 7’s Faisal (29) and Nilanth (26) added 42 valuable runs for the 2nd wicket partnership. A. Qadir Rumaish contributed 20 with the help of 2 fours and six. Nadeem (39) and Azhar (35) took Afkar Promo 7 to victory. Rohan claimed 2 scalps for 29 runs.
Juffali Michelin Triumph Over Nestle Milo: Juffali Michelin piled up 195 runs with
Imran (43) and Akram (10) opening for Juffali Michelin. Zahid joined Imran and took the score to 97. Zahid remained unbeaten on 96. Juffali Michelin posted 195 runs. Imran (2 for 35) bowled well. Nestle Milo’s Ehsan (80) took the bowling by the scruff. Omar also hit 2 sixes and 3 fours in his knock of 53. But Akram dealt a deadly blow by having Ehsan caught by Amir Chaudhary. Zahid Mirza (5 for 32) who had performed so well with the bat, performed equally well with leather as he sent back Amjad (10), Omar (53) Imran (10), Abdullah (01) and Zahid Qureshi (0) and sealed the fate of Nestle Milo. Nestle Milo reached 179 runs. Asim (2 for 26) dismissed both the openers.
