Pena Caps Reds Rally as Cubs’ Wood Sees Red

Wily Mo Pena doubled in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning and Kerry Wood was ejected in the same inning as the Cincinnati Reds rallied to beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 at Wrigley Field on Saturday.

Wood was arguing calls with home plate umpire Eric Cooper before he allowed the game-winning hit. After Chicago manager Dusty Baker came out to remove him, Wood was ejected from the field after screaming at Cooper as he left. Fans pelted the warning track with debris as Wood stormed off, delaying the game for several minutes.

The Reds held on to win after trailing 2-1 heading into the ninth, as Danny graves closed out the game in the bottom of the inning to pick up his fifth save.

Reds starter Cory Lidle went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. Ryan Wagner (1-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and got credit for the win.
