JEDDAH, 26 April 2004 — The latest building materials and products related to interior decor and security are on display at the 13th Saudi Building & Interiors Exhibition, which was opened by Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal ibn Majed here yesterday.
The five-day event has pavilions from Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE and the UK, as well as several national companies showcasing their products and services.
“Exhibits are well laid out and impressive,” the prince said during his tour of the show at Jeddah International Exhibition and Convention Center. He said that the show will benefit importers and consumers.
Belgian Ambassador Rudi Schellinck, who welcomed the prince in his country’s pavilion, said six Belgian companies were looking for local business partners for their high-tech products related to building construction. “We’ve a fairly well developed construction industry and are keen to transfer technology to the Kingdom,” Schellinck told Arab News.
Among local exhibitors is Mohammed Abbas Ismail Trading Est. that is showcasing car-parking shades. “It’s a new technology of environmental protection against the ultra violet rays of the sun,” said Marketing Manager Aleem Khan. The heavy-duty polyethylene shades protect the user from the effects of heat inside parked cars.
