DAMMAM, 28 April 2004 — Kanoo cricket club added another jewel to their crown as they outclassed AGE cricket club in all departments of the game achieving a comprehensive 161 runs victory in the final of the AGE Intrade Knockout tournament, sponsored by AGE Intrade Dubai.
Kanoo put up a massive total of 396 for 8 wickets. The hero of the match was Munawar Hussain, who scored 142 runs that included 23 boundaries. The other notable scorer was Iqbal Bali (94). Also among the runs were Akther Mahmood (50) and Rashed Rana (47). Irfan Farooqui took four wickets for 80 and Abul Hassan 3 for 72. In reply, AGE CC batsmen were all out for 235 runs. Only Zahid Haider batted with courage for his 49 runs. Kanoo’s Munawar and Abdul Naheed took three wickets each, giving away 44 and 48 runs respectively.
Adpco, Rani to Meet in Final: In the EPCA First Division knockout matches, Adpco won by 5 wickets over SVM Cricket Club. SVM put up a competitive 271 runs. Opener M. Ayub scored 101 runs, which included nine boundaries. He was well supported by Ishaq Mohiuddin, who scored 99 not out. Adpco’s Sorab and Lasanka captured two wickets each. In reply, Adpco crossed the winning mark in the 39th over. Abid led the way with 116 off 89 balls that was backed by sensible batting from Shorab, who hit an unbeaten 95. SVM’s Unni Krishnan took two wickets for 56 and M. Faisal 2 wickets for 59.
Rani CC Beat K.A. Al-Gosaibi by 107 runs: Rani scored 325 for 9 wickets. Nazeer Hussain (74) and Amer Sajjad (69) displayed superb batting skills. Waseem contributed 44 runs. Hidayath took two wickets for 51. In reply, K.A. Al-Gosaibi were all out for 218. Hidayath (56) Wasiullah (31) and Amin Saifullah (29) were the main scorers. Rani’s Sadiq Rafeeq captured five for 48 runs and Minhaj Mohiuddin 3 for 56.
