Citrix solutions have paved the way for Madinah municipality to speed up the processing of applications for various services. The applications may now be completed in 48 hours instead of the public waiting for up to two long months, observed Waleed Al-Barakat, manager of the Computer and Information Center at the Madinah municipality.
He was speaking at the launch of the new generation of Metaframe Access Suite products at Al-Faisaliah Hotel. More than 1,000 information technology professionals and business leaders attended the Citrix Conference 2004 held in cooperation with a dozen IT partner companies.
“Services such as issuing shop licenses, health certificates and approvals for engineering and construction works are now given by the municipality’s various offices in the Madinah region without any delay,” Al-Barakat said, adding that there are 22 municipal offices within Madinah and 10 offices outside the city to serve the members of the public. “These remote offices are effectively connected to one another with Citrix advanced technology,” he said.
The topic of interest at the conference was the fundamental issue of how customers can maximize enterprise application access over bandwidth, while faced with both the demands of tightening budgets and the need to consolidate servers, data, and applications into more easily managed centers. Citrix users in the Kingdom include King Faisal Specialist Hospital, National Guard Hospital, Saudi Hollandi Bank and Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).
“The conference focuses on our support for enterprise customer in the region with effective and efficient solutions to overcome today’s business challenges,” said Citrix Middle East Regional Manager Antoine Aguada. “By combining Citrix access infrastructure with solutions from partners such as Microsoft, IBM/SBM, Forevision and Peribit, we are transforming Middle East organizations into on-demand enterprises, allowing them to access the information and applications they need to make decisions faster and more productive, and provide better customer services.” — M.
