JEDDAH, 6 May 2004 — Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed has stressed the importance of establishing public health clubs all over the Kingdom for women.
Speaking to reporters at a seminar on “Youth & Future” at the Jeddah Hilton last night, the governor announced his approval for establishing a park for women only. The park is designed to be used for relaxation, jogging or exercise.
Answering questions from students who took part in the event, Prince Abdul Majeed said the continuing efforts to revise the educational curricula would extend to all academic levels.
Amal Al-Barakani, a student in King Abdul Aziz University’s marketing department, asked the governor about allowing women to work in supermarkets. He assured her the idea would be studied.
Muna Al-Buqami, a student in the last year of secondary school, said she wanted the government to recruit women for the military. The students expressed happiness at having an opportunity to discuss their problems and ideas with the governor.
