JEDDAH, 7 May 2004 — Saudi General Insurance beat Otis by 21 runs, Nader Toor won by 19 runs against Saleheen, Talha Optics scored a 25 runs win against Baber Toor and GCI beat Saudia City by four runs in the seventh week matches of Friday League organized by Jeddah Cricket League (JCL).
GCI mustered just 156 for 4 in 18 overs against Saudia City. Zahid 36, Imran 48 and Irfan (39 n.o.) built the score to 154 in the allotted 18 overs as Aslam took 2 for 31.
In reply Saudia City openers Qasim 33 and Nadeem 20 played well and then Naseem 22 and Shahzad 37 steered their team close, but Saleem Butt (3-21), Faisal (2-31) and Shoukath, who secured two run outs, kept the batsmen on a leash as Saudia City were held for 152 for 7 in their allotted overs.
The International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) managed to make just 141 for 6 in their allotted 18 overs against Nadeem Memorial with Fawaz 46, Rupesh 38 and Sufyan 18 standing out with 21 extras. Imran and Naveed took two wickets each while Ameen and Fahad took one wicket each. Nadeem Memorial then raced to 144 for 1 in just 13.4 overs with Faisal's unbeaten 70 and Zafar's 30.
Saudi General Insurance Company managed 146 for 7 against Otis. Abdul Rubb scored 35, while Majed Khan scored a polished 45. Azeem Sr. contributed 34 valuable runs for his team. Aslam 2 for 28, Akbar 2 for 32 and Noor 2 for 31 shone with the ball.
For Otis, Syed Noor 17, Afroz 15, Akhtar Abbas 14 and Asif 21 struggled to save their team but in vain as Shakeel of SGI finished with a rich haul of 5 for 33, Mujeeb had 3 for 15 and Qamar and Nisar took one wicket each in their team's 21 runs victory.
Nader Toor, batting first, were all out for 146. Nader Toor, who played well in the Arab News under 19 tournament, scored 75 and Naveed scored 28 runs.
Waqar took 3 wickets and Irfan took 2 wickets for their team.
In reply, Saleheen were bundled out for 127. Shoukath 30 and Nazim 31 played well for their team while Arif 16, Zulfiqar 10, Zia 11 and Mr. Extras 16 also contributed. Nadeem 3 for 13, Murtuza 2 for 28, Naveed 2 for 31, and Shadab 1 for 22 and Nader Toor 1 for 32 starred in their team's 19-run victory.
Talha Optics piled up 188 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Shahid's polished 54 and Adil's stylish 48 were the feature of Talha's innings.
Tariq made 21 runs off 11 balls, Abdul Rehman 16 runs off 13 balls and Mohsin hit 17 runs off 10 balls. Ijaz took 3 for 24 and Aizaz Toor 2 for 26.
Babar Toor started well as opener Ghayoor made 48 valuable runs. M. Irfan scored 34 but the rest of the batsmen failed with the bat and were restricted to 163 for 8 wickets in 20 overs, falling 25 runs short.
Sayeed and Shahid took two wickets each while Tariq, Abdul Rehman and Mohsin took a wicket each.
