RIYADH, 7 May 2004 — Top Gun won a three-way battle for Team of the Week honors, their third in three weeks, during the 13th session of the United Electronics Co. (EXTRA) Tuesday Night Bowling League 4th Conference at the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes here.
Top Gun and tournament leader RBC Patriots both tallied totals of 23 points in beating separate opponents. The unmatched team in action, ABV RG, also posted 23 points. But Top Gun prevailed in the tiebreak by virtue of their better pinfalls of 3,347 in beating Triple "R" which returned 20 points and total pinfalls of 3,318. The Patriots, who brought down Untouch-A-Bowl (15 points, 3,132 pinfalls), carded total pinfalls of 3,304, while ABV RG compiled 3,129.
Jerome Mercado of Triple "R" emerged Bowler of the Week after shooting the high series of 895 on lines of 211, 224, 196, 204 and 60 handicap. Starstrucks crushed Xtreme OPS 19-7 (3,052-2,825), Blue Blood whipped Ara Bowlers 22-13 (3,194-3,074) and KIA's Pride stopped Snap Shots 4 17-13 (3,027-3,034) in the other matches in the four-man team league event sponsored by United Electronics Co. through assistant marketing manager Ammar Issa.
The trio of Jett Cabana, Pido Villarosa and Angel Pantoja shot complete games of 851, 848 and 820 for Top Gun, with Boy Bartolome, Rod Basilio and Ernie Quiambao sharing the rest of the team's games at 417, 247 and 164 in that order.
Ely Fanugao was the hottest among the Patriots, hitting the second best individual score of 893 on rounds of 230, 215, 242 and 206. Mar Viloria accounted for the other four-game output of 848, while Arnel Gordovez added 614, Fhel Ramos 561 and Tony Vicario 388. Henry Pablo and Darcy Odono were ABV's 1-2 punch with tallies of 818 and 802 that went with the 761 by Nestor Tercio, 378 by Alex Paguila and 370 by August Yema. At the helm for Starstrucks were Mike Alcaraz with 807 and Sim Diorico with 786.
