RIYADH, 7 May 2004 — Al Amera Int’l Cargo delivered a fine performance to claim honors with 19 points and total pinfalls of 3,911 on the fifth week of the LS Monday Night Bowling League 4th Conference at the Al Khozama Bowling Center here.

Team of the Week Al Amera shot those top figures in crushing third week honoree FOBR that looked miserable this time with mere four points and total pinfalls of 3,610.

The sizzling display lifted Al Amera to second place in the standings even with a game in hand, just behind leader RBC Patriots, an easy 11-4 winner over Pangasinan Strikers on total pinfalls of 3,633 and 3,581.

The Patriots contributed the top individual performer in Bowler of the Week Fernie Ballano who shot the high series of 824 on lines of 233, 193, 201 and 181.

Missed Beat turned back up-and-down Khozama squad 9-2 (3,557-3,463) and Vision 2 topped So Much 8-4 (3,506-3,442) in the other matches in the five-man team league event sponsored by Garnet Cargo through Jojo Paciano and Hotel Al Khozama through sport center Manager Saeed Al Zahrani.

As the teams continue to struggle reading the line at the synthetic lanes of ABC, Al Amera had the best effort so far as they rolled games of 910, 1,009, 1,009 and 983.

The five-man rotation worked pretty well for Al Amera, and it was Donjie Mapalad with 818 who led the way. Vic Marzo tossed in 800, Bernie Magbag had 780, Nigel Bennett tallied 765 and Mario Rosal made 748.

The Patriots, on the other hand, felt comfortable with eight players taking turns at bat. Jett Cabana was the only other player outside Ballano to do four games at 718. Three-game outputs were put in by Romy Zafe with 591 and Rod Tagaban with 547, while Oca Bernabe did two games at 296 and Benito Santos and Ernie Quiambao a game each at 171 and 144.

Missed Beat chiefly relied on the trio of Arnel Garlan (770), Nader Al-Kadi (738) and Raul Medina (722). Among the few who reached the 800-series score was FOBR’s Ellen Bernabe with 812. Three pins shy at 797 was Afred Valencia of Al Khozama.

Team standings after the fifth week: 1. RBC Patriots 44; 2. Al Amera Int’l Cargo 37; 3. So Much 34; 4. Missed Beat 34; 5. FOBR 32; 6. Pangasinan Strikers 29; 7. Vision 2 29; 8. ECR 28; 9. Pin Rockers 17; 10. Al Khozama 16; 11. Garnet Cargo 15.
