Al-Jaber Receives Ph.D from City University of London

JEDDAH, 11 May 2004 — Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al-Jaber, founder and chairman of the US$3 billion MBI International and Partners, recently received a doctor of science degree from the City University of London in recognition of his efforts to promote education in the Middle East.

Presenting the degree on behalf of the City University of London, Professor Steve Miller, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, said, "Sheikh Al-Jaber's personal commitment to promoting education through the creation of the MBI Foundation speaks volumes about the passion he has for the development of the region. The City University recognises his valuable contributions toward education and his support for initiatives to create conditions for peace and development in the region."

On receiving the doctorate, Al-Jaber said, "I thank the City University of London for this recognition. I will continue my efforts toward providing students from the region the best possible opportunities to become global leaders in their chosen fields."

Al-Jaber is directly involved in many charitable and educational activities. His foundation offers scholarship programs to deserving students from the Middle East at the American Universities in Beirut and Cairo, INSEAD near Paris, and at the School of Oriental and African Studies in the University of London.
