EXISS Honors Fazalbhoy, Teachers

JEDDAH, 13 May 2004 — The recently formed Ex-Students Indian School Society (EXISS) honored senior teachers and one of the IISJ school founders, Rafiuddin Fazalbhoy at a reunion day held at the Consulate General of India last week. Consul General Syed Akbaruddin, who presided, urged former students to work toward the welfare of the community and pursue their professional life in the most dignified manner.

EXISS President Mohammed Hyder said the society had come into reality after a two-year plan to offer a platform for the welfare of students. Its founder Asgar Ali said the society, whose slogan is “by the students, for the students,” had 300 members working in different professions.

Offering career guidance and conducting job-shadowing, sports and cultural programs are among the activities of the society whose executive committee includes Adil Siddiq, Shakeel Mohammed, Syed Aziz, Aziz Hayat, Dr. Khaleel Mohammed, Khalid Ahmed, Mir Mohmood Ali and Haseeb Khateeb. Fazalbhoy told students to assist underprivileged IISJ students and contribute ponder over the community’s effort to establish a college, especially for girls. An audiovisual show on the school, from its inception to the present day, marked the function, which was attended by 500 members of the community.
