YANBU, 21 May 2004 — In first match between Cristal and Safra, Cristal defeated Safra by 9 wickets. Safra won the toss and elected to bat. But none of the batsman could face the tight bowling of Cristal. Fawad and Yousuf scored 25 and 38 runs respectively. Rizwan, Shahzad and Khushnood took 3 wickets each while Pasha took one.
Cristal team opened their innings with Rizwan and Khushnood. The first wicket partnership was worth 87 runs before Rizwan was stumped for 49 off the bowling of Sher Mohammad. The second wicket partnership between Khushnood and Nasir ensured that no further damage was done and the two scored the required runs in just 10 overs.
Khushnood of Cristal was declared the Man of the Match for his 57 not out and 3 wickets for 9 runs.
In the second match of the day Royal Commission (B) defeated Royal Commission (A). Royal Commission (B) are quite hopeful of entering the semifinal of the tournament. R.C. (B) captain Riaz won the toss and elected to bat. Dr. Aamir and Farman lived up to set a first-wicket stand of 80 before Farman was caught by Qadeer off the bowling of Yousuf for 32 runs.
Dr. Aamir and Riaz carried through the innings before Dr. Aamir was caught by Yousuf off the bowling of Safarish for 75. The second wicket partnership was worth 60 runs. Riaz scored a disciplined 58 and Siraj remained 22 not out. The unbroken fourth wicket partnership was worth 53 runs. Safarish, Iqbal Patel and Yousuf took one wicket each.
Royal Commission (A) started their innings through Qadeer and Iqbal Patel. Both were scoring freely before Patel was clean bowled by Farman for 31. The first wicket partnership was worth 61. Qadeer and Yousuf settled in before Riaz brought in Dr. Aamir who immediately did the damage by getting Qadeer caught by Nasir for a well-made 61. In his second over Dr. Aamir got rid of Yousuf for 41 and Safarish was stumped by Siraj for 14. Royal Commission (A) scored only 171 in their allotted 20 overs.
Dr. Aamir was declared the man of the match for his 75 runs and 3 for 27 runs.
