JEDDAH, 29 May 2004 — A mobile phone with a camera triggered a dispute between several female teachers of a nursery school in the Athayeba neighborhood of Najran recently. The headmistress called the police to stop the fighting, which had injured a pregnant teacher. The dispute started after a teacher took pictures of her colleagues while they were working. The angry colleagues tried to stop the woman and take the camera, but her two daughters intervened. The headmistress was forced to call the police as the situation worsened. “This is not the first time this woman has caused a problem in the school. In the past, she threatened the headmistress with a knife,” relatives of the teachers told Al-Watan newspaper. The woman, who triggered the crisis had left the school before the police arrived but her phone had been confiscated. The director of education in the region criticized the headmistress for calling in the police, saying his administration was capable of handling such incidents.
