JEDDAH, 7 June 2004 — Question: Have you been wishing to see your doctor or dentist but have been unable to do so? If the answer is yes, pick one of the possible reasons below:
a) Too much work,
b) No money available,
c) The doctor is always out,
d) I was just too lazy to go out.
Whatever your answer, your wish would be granted on June 11 if you visit the Philippine Consulate General from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Pinoy doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical workers will be there to serve you, according to the Kapulungan ng Mga Samahang Pilipino (Kasapi), which is organizing a medical mission in conjunction with the Philippine Independence Day celebration.
“This will be our own little way of extending help to our fellow OFWs and dependents, especially those not covered by medical insurances,” said Corly Obtinalla, vice chairman of Kasapi.
Apart from the common medical consultations, ophthalmologists will also be there to give eye checkups.
Dentists are also ready to restore the smile on the faces of those who have been suffering from teeth problems for some time.
Apart from hygiene tips, medicines and vitamins for children will be also be given away for free.
The participating groups in the medical, dental and optical mission include the Ilocano, Pangasinense, ABNA-Marantao Associations, and the Mother movement, said Kasapi secretary-general John Asperilla.
One of the features of the day’s ceremony is an inspirational talk from Consul General Pendosina Lomondot.
Labor Attaché Nasser Munder and Welfare Officer Rosauro Octaviano have also been invited to grace the occasion.
Kasapi, an is the umbrella organization comprising more than 40 active community groups, is chaired by Nazruddin Dianalan.
