Husband Gives Divorce to Wife Over TV Show

JEDDAH, 28 June 2004 — A woman so enraged her conservative husband by taking part in a TV discussion program on social issues that he divorced her after 12 years of marriage. Al-Watan reported the husband had warned his wife repeatedly not to go on television. His anger came to a head when she used what the paper described as a “family secret” to illustrate a point she was making on air. Two days after the broadcast she received a letter informing her of the divorce, it said.
