JEDDAH, 30 July 2004 — Prince Abdul Rahman ibn Saud, president of Al-Nasr sports club, died of a heart attack in the specialist hospital in Riyadh on Thursday. He was 63.
With the death of Prince Abdul Rahman, who was associated with sports for over 40 years, Saudi Arabia has lost one of the pioneers of the sporting world. Born in Riyadh, he studied law and Islamic studies after finishing high school.
Prince Abdul Rrahman joined Al-Nasr club in 1961 as president of the club and a goalkeeper. Two years later he became fulltime president. Prince Abdul Rahman was considered the longest serving club president in the world.
