JEDDAH, 9 August 2004 — Nasser ibn Saleh Al-Sarami has been appointed director of the newly established electronic publication department at the Saudi Research & Publishing Company. Prince Faisal ibn Salman, chairman of the Saudi Research & Marketing Group, made the appointment.
“The new department will set up advanced websites for SRPC publications and their various services,” a company statement said, adding that the websites would have interactive features.
Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil, managing director of SRPC, said the new department was established to strengthen the presence of the company’s publications on the Internet.
“The goal is to help Internet users reach our publications and services easily and continuously and interact with the largest number of readers around the world. It also aims to provide advanced information services,” he said.
Sarami’s appointment came as part of the company’s efforts to boost its activities with the support of experienced and professional journalists and administrators.
Sarami had earlier worked for Al-Riyadh Arabic daily and established its Internet department and developed its website. He also worked as director of Al-Riyadh’s regional office in Dubai. He has authored a book titled “Internet and the New World Society” and will publish another book shortly. He has participated in a number of regional and international conferences and exhibitions.
