KARACHI, 20 August 2004 — Women and children held a rally outside foreign missions in Karachi yesterday to protest the US bombardment of Najaf and Karbala.

The protest was organized by the All Pakistan Shiite Action. The rally outside the British mission was led by Aun Muhammad Naqvi. The demonstrators were holding placards inscribed with anti-US slogans. They presented a memorandum to the mission demanding end to human rights violations and halt to bombardment of holy places in Iraq. They also protested outside the Italy and Iranian missions and presented memorandums.

Meanwhile, the United States has warned its citizens in Karachi to be more careful. US Consul General Ron Douglas talking to reporters said that although the law and order situation was improving, US citizens living in Karachi should be more careful and take precautionary measures while moving in the city.
