Amex (Saudi Arabia) Limited has introduced a new “Flight Companion Program” for Platinum and Gold credit and charge card members in association with award-winning Gulf Air and Royal Jordanian Airlines.
This was announced by Mazin Khoury, chief executive officer of American Express, who was speaking on the occasion of the Kingdom’s National Day.
“Card members purchasing a qualifying full-fare Gulf Air business or first class ticket or a Royal Jordanian crown class ticket with their Platinum Card or American Express Gold Card, can receive a free airline ticket for a companion in the same class and to the same destination, or an upgrade to first class when booking business class, depending on the origin and destination of the flight booked,” said Khoury. The program, which applies to return air tickets only, started on Sept. 1, 2004 and is expected to grow over time to include other regional and international carriers.
Between the two participating airlines in the program, American Express card members have the choice of more than 200 destinations including some of the world’s most popular and exotic destinations. “This is one of the most attractive and exciting offers that Amex (Saudi Arabia) Limited has devised for card members. Apart from the glamour of luxury travel with two of the world’s most prestigious airlines, the promotion adds even more value for American Express card members,” said Khoury.
In addition, there are many other travel-related benefits that come with American Express cards. To take advantage of the program, tickets must be purchased with a Platinum or Gold Card directly from Gulf Air or Royal Jordanian Airlines offices quoting “The American Express International Airline Program Companion or Upgrade Offer.”
Nabil Abou Alwan, Amex’s head of marketing, said Amex’s Saudi Riyal Gold Credit Card is accepted at thousands of outlets in Saudi Arabia and millions of outlets worldwide and features retail protection, online fraud guarantee, express cash, emergency card replacement and 24-hour customer service.
He said: “Our Blue Card is specifically designed for the Saudi market and marks a major milestone in the development of the American Express brand in the Kingdom. Everything about the Blue Card from its futuristic design to its unique and attractive one percent moneyback reward scheme is aimed at card members who rely on modern financial tools to keep up with their demanding lifestyles.
“With the Kingdom’s leading banks on board, we are able to build stronger relations with our partner merchants and launch many innovative programs for our card members.”
