JEDDAH, 24 September 2004 — A Saudi man has been killed in a car crash involving a woman driver in the southern province of Najran.
The accident occurred last week when the unidentified woman’s car collided with a man’s truck in a desert area in the region of Najran, said Al-Watan. The man died instantly and the woman was seriously injured in the face and other parts of the body.
She was taken by ambulance to King Khaled Hospital while police initiated an investigation about the circumstances leading to the accident,
While it is illegal for women to drive in the Kingdom, some still venture out behind the wheel in remote rural and desert areas.
