RIYADH, 29 September 2004 — Police last night found the body of a man inside a rubbish container in Al-Rawabi neighborhood. A group of children attracted the attention of worshippers, coming out of a nearby mosque after Isha prayers, to the corpse, which was wrapped in a blue loose-fitting Arabic-style clothes.
Police said the death seemed to be of natural causes and ruled out the possibility of a crime.
Witnesses said the man was of middle age and the body looked relatively fresh but showed some signs of decomposition. It was not clear if the body was of a Saudi or Pakistani national.
The police, who could not identify the body, at first asked the crowd that gathered at the site to leave for fear that the container contained explosives or was a booby trap laid by terrorists.
