Huge Drug Bust in Jeddah

JEDDAH, 12 October 2004 — Security authorities seized about one million pills of the amphetamine-like stimulant Captagon in a huge drug bust in Jeddah, a newspaper reported yesterday.

Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Feraih, director general of the anti-narcotics department, told Okaz that his forces made the bust after two weeks of surveillance on a foreign gang.

The official did not specify the nationality of the drug dealers.

The department had one of its under-cover agents pose as a potential buyer, while its officers arrested the dealers red handed during the exchange, he said.
