TORONTO, 19 October 2004 — Allen Iverson was ejected from the bench in the second quarter before his Philadelphia 76ers teammates rallied for a 108-103 victory over Toronto in a National Basketball Association preseason game on Sunday.

A three-time scoring champion, Iverson started despite a sore hip, which is not considered serious. He scored 10 points in the first quarter, then sat on the floor near the bench.

Midway through the second period, Iverson shouted at referee Courtney Kirkland to “blow the whistle.” Kirkland called a technical foul on Iverson, who repeated himself, drawing another technical and an ejection.

But the Sixers did not need their star to improve to 3-0 in exhibition play. Willie Green scored 16 points and fellow reserve Marc Jackson added 15 to lead five players in double figures for Philadelphia.

Reserve Morris Peterson scored 26 points for the Raptors, who gave up 32 points in the fourth quarter. Star Vince Carter scored just seven points in 18 minutes and heard chants of “We want Carter!” from the crowd of 7,619 as he sat on the bench in the final period.

First-round draft pick Rafael Araujo of Brazil had six points and five fouls in 16 minutes.

Toronto selected Araujo eighth overall, allowing Andre Iguodala to slide to Philadelphia at No. 9. Iguodala had eight points and five assists in 28 minutes.
