JEDDAH, 9 November 2004 — The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) yesterday announced the publication of the new edition of Jeddah Commercial Directory. The 782-page issue for 2004-05 contains detailed information of Jeddah-based companies.
Describing the directory as a handbook of information for businessmen and the corporate world, JCCI Chairman Adel Mohammed Fakieh said the publication reflects the need of both national and overseas businessmen. Jeddah’s rapid growth in the field of trade and economy has been phenomenal and the publication fulfils the need as a ready reckoner for both local and visiting businessmen.
“Notwithstanding the sense of unrest that troubles much of the world, Saudi Arabia continues to enjoy a remarkably high degree of political and economic stability. Since the formation of the Kingdom, the city has played a proactive role in the development of trade and industry,” Fakieh said.
JCCI Secretary-General Mohammed Abdullah Al-Sharif underlined the need for an accurate and reliable source of comprehensive information and said the directory attempted to fulfill that. “It’s a ready reckoner not only for our own business community but also for the wider international business community who show interest in establishing trade links with us,” he said.
The directory, which carries forewords from both Fakieh and Al-Sharif, has all the relevant information and contact numbers that the business community requires. The directory’s various sections are indicated through its green, white and pink pages. Its green pages are devoted to the government offices as well as Ministry of Health hospitals and clinics. The pages also contain exhaustive information on the chambers of commerce and industry, embassies and consulates. Its white pages give information about companies listed alphabetically.
The directory has introductory remarks from Dr. Abubakr A. Alaidarous, director general, Arab Circle Group, which has collected information, and edited, printed and published the directory on behalf of the JCCI. By adding new companies, the directory has laid special emphasis to record the day-to-day changes, provide websites and e-mail addresses of companies.
