Saudi Gets Shirty Over Frisking

JEDDAH, 19 November 2004 — A young Saudi passenger did not like the idea when a customs officer on the Bahraini side of King Fahd Causeway told him that he wanted to frisk him. The Saudi took offense and started beating and abusing the officer while other passengers were watching, Okaz reported yesterday. Bahraini police arrested the young man and seized his car, the paper said, adding that they later handed him over to Saudi authorities. “It was not my intention to provoke the Saudi youth,” the customs officer said. But a friend of the Saudi said the body search was unnecessary.
