JEDDAH, 1 December 2004 — An SR250 million five-star hotel is coming up in the eastern city of Alkhobar shortly. Businessman Sheikh Mansour ibn Manie Juma signed an agreement on Monday with Mohamed A. El Khereiji, chairman of International Center for Commerce & Contracting, to implement the project.
The Alkhobar Movenpick hotel will have magnificent suites and rooms in addition to a number of villas and restaurants, a large wedding hall that can accommodate 1,800 people, a sports club and housing for workers.
El Khereiji expressed his happiness over winning the multimillion-riyal contract, saying it reflected the company’s good reputation in carrying out major projects.
“The new Alkhobar hotel is designed to become a landmark in the Eastern Province,” said Fady Kabalaoui, general manager of El Khereiji Group in the province. Saudi Consulting and Design House (Scado) designed the project.
“It is a unique hotel project that was planned to cater to the needs of businessmen,” Kabalaoui said, adding that the project would be completed within 26 months.
The 14-floor hotel is to be built near the Giant Stores in the Raka area. It will have 165 rooms and suites in addition to royal suites and six villas. The new hotel project comes at a time when the Eastern Province is witnessing a boom in tourism and real estate business. The signing ceremony was attended by top officials.
