JEDDAH, 2 December 2004 — Saudi security forces have arrested four suspects following raids in various parts of the Kingdom, press reports said, adding that seven officers were injured when their vehicle overturned during a chase.

“Police arrested two suspects in Artawiya, north of Majmaa,” Okaz reported.

The Arabic daily said the two men surrendered without putting up any resistance. The remaining two were held in Buraidah and Hafr Al-Baten.

Brig. Mansour Al-Turki, a spokesman of the Interior Ministry, confirmed that the seven security personnel were “slightly injured” while they were chasing wanted terrorists in the Dabae area, north of Hafr Al-Baten.

The arrests come as part of a nationwide campaign to track down suspected terrorists linked to Al-Qaeda and believed to be behind a series of bomb attacks and shootings that have left nearly 100 people dead and more than 200 injured since May last year.
