JEDDAH, 8 December 2004 — Hamad Abdullah Al-Zamil & Bros Co. has been transformed into a closed Saudi joint-stock company with a capital of SR52.2 million divided into 1,044,000 shares.
The decision was taken by Commerce and Industry Minister Dr. Hashim Yamani, who also agreed to change the company’s name to Al-Zamil Holding Group.
According to an official statement carried by Saudi Press Agency, the founders have subscribed to all the shares of the Alkhobar-based company and paid their value in full.
The company is licensed to carry out wholesale and retail trade in medical and surgical equipment and utensils, chemicals, petroleum products, fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural crops, paints, air-conditioners, household equipment and other products.
In another development, Zamil Steel has been awarded a SR41.2 million ($ 11 million) contract to design, fabricate, supply and erect the steel building for Aziz Mall in Jeddah.
The specifications of the project commit Zamil Steel to a tight completion deadline of just three months. The scope of work includes the fabrication and supply of 8,200 metric tons of steel for the 120,000 square meter project.
Zamil Steel’s building solution comprises pre-engineered steel buildings, open web joists and structural steel components. The supply of steel to the two-story mall will begin on January 2005.
Aziz Mall is the third project to be awarded to Zamil Steel by Al Hokair Company, and the win follows earlier project assignments with the Khurais Plaza Shopping Mall project in Riyadh and the Dhahran Shopping City project in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
“Zamil Steel has expanded the concept and applications of pre-engineered buildings from the traditional ‘box’ buildings to more challenging types of structures. Our total building solution offering is strengthened by our capabilities to design, detail and manufacture virtually all types of low-rise steel buildings such as giant shopping and entertainment complexes, commercial centers, showrooms and others,” said Khalid Abdulla Al-Zamil, president, Zamil Steel.
