The Geforce FX 5700 considered a value card in NVIDIA’s mid-range cards was released back in mid 2003, promising quality image, performance and value delivered to its users. The FX 5700 comes in 2 forms: 128mb and 256mb version. In this review will take a look at 256mb version concerning features and performance in the latest games.
Key Features:
AGP 8X
CineFX 2.0 Engine
UltraShadow Technology
Intellisample HCT
DirectX 9
Performance:
In old games, the average frame per second (FPS) for Unreal Tournament 2003 and Call of duty were 60 and 65 respectively. In recent games, the average FPS for Doom3 and Half life 2(HL2) were 50 and 30 respectively. The Settings for the games were High Setting and resolution 1024x768. The results are quite distressing. Although the card performed extremely well in the old games, the performance in the recent ones was disappointing especially in HL2.
Conclusion:
The only good feature that I can think of about this card is the cost which is around SR500. Indeed you can increase the FPS by lowering the settings and resolution but then you‘ll be missing the best feature of the game. Final words: Buy this card only if you’re short of cash and own an inferior card then Geforce FX 5700.
