Religious Police Attacked

TABUK, 24 December 2004 — Eleven young men, aged 25 to 30, attacked members of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday.

The eleven men punched and kicked the commission members and used metal objects to beat them up. The injured members were treated at the King Khaled Hospital.

It all started when one of the youngsters was detained for being in an isolated place with a girl who was no relation of his.

Police arrested three of the 11 men and the search for the remaining eight was still on yesterday evening.
