RIYADH, 3 January 2005 — Paying your traffic ticket fine is no longer a hassle. You don’t have to wait in long queues at the Traffic Police Department any more: It can now be done within minutes through Al-Rajhi Bank’s new electronic system, at your own time, and at your own convenience.

Al-Rajhi Banking and Investment Corp. has launched a new electronic system through its ATMs that enables any account holder to pay the fine with ease. All the client has to do is enter the ticket fine number and his ID number or iqama number and the amount would be deducted from his account. The system is automatically linked with the main computer system in the Ministry of Interior that in part clears the fine from the main computer in Traffic Police Department.

Launched by the CEO of Al-Rajhi Banking and Investing Corp., Suleiman Al-Rajhi, and the head of the Traffic Police Department in the Kingdom, Brig. Gen. Fahd Al-Bishr, the scheme is designed to give better quality services for motorists.

Customers can also inquire through the new electronic system about detailed information on the total number of tickets they need to pay with specified details on the point of registry and the date and the amount.

The new electronic service is provided via the Internet, phone banking, and through 1,300 ATM machines spread all over the Kingdom. Brig. Gen. Al-Bishr launched with Suleiman Al-Rajhi the new system by paying a fine via one of the bank’s ATM machines in the capital on Saturday.

Speaking about the new facility, Al-Bishr said it was part of the Traffic Department’s efforts to ease procedures for citizens and residents alike. He also said that such electronic systems enable people to retrieve information and data at a quick pace so they can make necessary arrangements as fast as possible. He commended the bank’s move to sponsor the national project, saying that the new system was introduced as per the directives of the minister of interior and his deputy to develop the quality of services of government establishments.

Saeed Al-Ghamdi, general manager for private banking at Al-Rajhi Banking and Investing Corp., said that more electronic systems would be launched by the bank in the near future to satisfy customers’ needs in this electronic age. One of the projects under way which is being coordinated with the ministries of finance and interior is to pay the fees for issuing or renewal of the drivers license and registration card through an electronic system.
