The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth (LOTR: BFME) based on New Line Cinema’s film, places you in command and control of the legendary heroes, massive armies, and epic campaigns of Middle-Earth. The destiny of Middle-Earth is in your hands. In This review we’ll explore graphics, sound, multiplayer and gameplay.

Graphics:

The developers did a brilliant job with this game whether it’s the excellent unit, building animations, the beautiful map landscape or the effect of siege weapons ripping walls apart.

Score: 9/10

Sounds:

LOTR: BFME really shines in sound and music. With Wonderful voice-work from the film’s cast and fantastic utilization of the original soundtrack that truly fits the atmosphere.

Score: 9/10

Multiplayer:

Although the multiplayer features in LOTR: BFME was assumed to be fascinating feature, many flaws hindered and hurt the multiplayer quality and experience. Battles can consume a lot of time reaching hours to finish single game. Also, capping the numbers of unit and buildings can spoil the fun aspect especially if you’re a C&C: Zero hour fanatic.

Score: 6/10

Gameplay:

The Single player mode contains campaigns for both good and evil side. The campaign mode succeeded in creating an atmosphere that evoked the movies. In general there are four sides; Gondor, Rohan, Mordor, and Isengard, and all have their own unique units and heroes although some are shared. The unit tactics has changed dramatically with the ability to unite different units or change formation depending on the situation.

Score: 9/10

Conclusion:

Even though the developers deserve credit on their work, the misplaced key elements mentioned in this article affected the game’s excitement and shelf life. Nevertheless, Fans of Lord of The Rings should not miss this game.

Overall Score: 8.2/10
