The “Gateway to Iraq — Exhibition, Business and Investors Summit,” is being promoted as a major event to support the reconstruction and economic development program of Iraq and to create awareness of the vast investment and trade potential in that country. Gateway to Iraq (www.gateway-to-iraq.com) will be a unique four-day event from June 13-16, 2005 that will include a major trade exhibition, workshops and business and employment seminars. The organizers will also host an awards ceremony to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions toward Iraq. The event is being supported by several major organizations in Dubai, in particular the Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Naturalization and Residency Department.

The Gateway to Iraq Exhibition will bring together under one roof regional and international companies, offering a range of products and services related to the reconstruction effort in Iraq and also any company looking to join the list of suppliers who will be supporting the lead contractors in Iraq. Exhibitors will represent a broad spectrum of sectors and interests such as construction and transportation, water and sewage, oil and gas, electricity and power generation, communications and information technology, health care and education, agriculture and food and non-governmental organizations.

At the Gateway to Iraq event there will be several workshops and seminars dedicated to specific topics to give participants more time to exchange views and interact closely with experts, entrepreneurs and government officials. Tenders that are available at the time will be discussed at the respective workshops. Some of the seminar topics are “How To Do Business in Iraq,” “The Legalities and Procedures for Setting Up Business in Iraq” and “How to Deal With Security Issues.” There will also be a focus on success stories of Iraqi businesses and businessmen.
