Russia, Jordan Set Up Business Council

AMMAN, 14 February 2005 — Russia and Jordan yesterday signed an agreement whereby they created a joint business council designed to boost trade exchanges between the two sides, Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade Ahmad Hindawi announced. The accord was concluded between Jordan’s chambers of commerce and industry and their counterparts in the Russian federation at the end of a three-day visit to Jordan by a ranking Russian business delegation headed by former Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov. Primakov, currently head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed his country’s readiness to invest in Jordanian projects particularly in the spheres of water, electricity, energy, railways and the Pan-Arab project due to carry Egyptian gas to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey.
